MARINTEK

GLview 3D Visualization API used for development of a tailor-made post-processor for collapse analysis in USFOS.

Ceetron has developed a tailor-made pre- and post-processor for the simulation system USFOS from MARINTEK. Xact is built on the GLview 3D Visualization API and is maintained by Ceetron.

MARINTEK is a research institute within the SINTEF Group. The institute performs R&D for marine industries and public sectors. Ceetron and MARINTEK have had a strong relation since the early nineties, and they are constantly active in joint projects for the Norwegian oil & gas industry.

USFOS is a leading computer program for integrity assessment, collapse analyses, and accidental load analyses of jackets, top-sides, jack-ups, and other frame structures. USFOS is being marketed by MARINTEK and by the Det Norske Veritas through the SESAM system.

Based on MARINTEK’s specifications, Ceetron developed the new pre- and post-processor using the GLview 3D Visualization API. In addition to the pre- and post-processor functionality, Xact has a graphical user interface for running analysis with USFOS. This makes the USFOS engine seem like an integrated part of Xact, and makes the application very user-friendly. An advanced editor with syntax-highlighting of USFOS input files gives advanced users the opportunity to modify the analysis input directly and provides help for less experienced users through a command browser and automatic insertion of comments with descriptions of command parameters.

While MARINTEK uses its expertise to develop the numerics, simulation of physical phenomena and material properties, Ceetron develops and maintains the graphics software.
