Det Norske Veritas

Ceetron has developed a tailor-made post-processor solution "Xtract" for the SESAM analysis system from DNV Software.

SESAM is recognized as the most advanced and comprehensive software system for structural and hydrodynamic analysis available to the offshore and maritime industry. DNV Software is an independent business unit within Det Norske Veritas, which has been using the GLview visualization technology since 1997.

Xtract is based on the GLview 3D Visualization API. Xtract is a high-performance general purpose model and results visualization program that and animates and presents the results of hydrodynamic and static/dynamic structural analyses.

The post-processor was developed by Ceetron on specifications from DNV Software, and the new product replaced the two existing visualization modules SESAM Viewer and SESAM Postfem. These two applications represented the basis for the requirements to Xtract. Xtract is now the main post-processor in the SESAM product family.

Xtract was developed by extensive use of prototypes. Based on the feedback from DNV’s internal users, the prototypes rapidly developed into a commercial release.

The time from start until the first commercial release was approximately one year, and Xtract was released to the SESAM end-users in September 2000.
